I’m totally hooked on the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And for me it’s all about the heroes. Very hard to pick a favorite out of the group. Except for Phury, nice guy, lots of issues, but he didn’t do it for me. Was it the addict thing? I don’t think so. Suffering does not ruin a hero for me.
Rhage was sex addict and I was totally rooting for him.

Flaws are okay, wallowing isn’t. Somewhere along the line, Phury lost my respect. And a hero needs respect. Damn near anything can be justified if it well motivated and handled sympathetically. Self pity, running away from his problems instead of taking action–right there he fell off my hero pedestal.
Do I want my heroes perfect? Of course not. I love them flawed, complex, and tortured. But, and this is the key. I still want them heroic.
