The other day I read an a well written argument against pirating (you can find it here) .
It’s not the first time I’ve read the same arguments from a big name author. I doubt it will be the last.
The bottom line is pirating songs or books is stealing. It hurts the very artists that the thieves admire.
Now, you might well be thinking what the heck does this have to do with WIP Wednesday. I’ll be happy to explain. There wont be WIP’s if I don’t get paid to write. This is what I do to make money. Those of you who write and submit know how tough it is to get published. Everyone who works knows how hard it is to make money.
If you can’t afford to buy books, enter author contests–visit your library–ask your rich friends to buy you books as presents. But, please don’t steal my books. Don’t steal anyone’s books.
PS If your library doesn’t have the book you want to read, ask a librarian if they will buy it. Libraries do that. 8)
