As I write this, I have five titles on Fictionwise. This is ultra cool. So far, they’ve sold more of my books than any of the other e-book stores.
Yet, I don’t understand their classification system. Half of my titles have been classed as romance the other half as erotica. Ironically, the hotter books have been those labeled romance.
If I were a big dog author, this wouldn’t matter, because readers would be looking for my name and they wouldn’t be deterred by a little thing like which sub-genre the title carried.
The stories classed as erotica have out sold those labeled romance, by a lot. Since the stories are erotic romances, the sales results make sense.
A five book sample certainly isn’t enough for statistical conclusions.
The latest Fictionwise release, Dangerous Secrets is classified as an erotic romantic suspense! This is the perfect sub-sub-genre category for the story. This title is also my number one best seller. Marketing research continues…. ;)
Over on Amazon I have six Kindle titles with entirely different ratings. Wicked Games is my top seller on Amazon. Okay, I’m spending way too much time trying to understand ebook sales rankings. Back to writing, where at least I have some idea what I’m trying to accomplish.
