When I think about promoting and marketing the pirate series, I run into a problem. The pirate stories are set in current time, right here on earth.
The publisher labels them contemporary, but just the word ‘pirate’ conjours up tall ships, eye patches, and the Jolly Roger flying from the mast. Modern pirates brings up another set of images, closer to the series–but still not quite right.
As far as I know, I’m the only one writing modern pirate erotic romances. This won’t last if the stories go over with readers.
I’ve already seen another futuristic with the same story premise I used for Dalila’s Choice. A case of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery–or great minds think alike. But, I’m getting off track.
The problem is how to describe–briefly a sub-sub-genre story that’s new and different.
All suggestions are welcome.
