I have a high-maintenance house, yard, and dog. Yep, definite trend there.
Since the cat left for the giant catnip fields in the sky, the couch he liked to nap on stayed pristine.
The little dog tried to take over the nap spot, but I scolded and she slunk off, muttering, “Cat wasn’t using it.”
Lately, every evening when I pass the couch, it’s rumpled. Of course, the dog is resting innocently on the rug.
Yesterday after dinner, whuffing noises and quiet rubbing alerted me as I headed for the office. I reversed course and peeked into the living room. The diva dog was wiping her chin between the couch cushions.
Now after dinner chin wiping has been added to her daily grooming routine.

The revolution of Ebooks is the one on my mind.
A couple of different posts caught my interest lately. One from Josh Lanyon How to pick a publisher. The other from JA Konrath’s Newbie’s Guide to Publishing On Beyond EBooks.
These topics may look unrelated, but they dovetailed for me. Mr. Lanyon talks about why he works with a publisher, Mr. Konrath talks about why he doesn’t.
I don’t pretend to be in their sales rankings, or income brackets. Though I’d like to be so I follow these very different success stories.
Both sides of the unofficial debate appeal to me. I’ve learned more from editors about writing than from any class, craft book, or workshop. I’m painfully aware I do not turn out flawless prose. An editor’s, and a copy editor’s, applied skills make me look good and my stories even better.
On the other hand, not every story that pops into my head fits neatly into established publisher guidelines. Where are all the WWII erotic romances? People still watch Gone With The Wind, there have to be at least one or two who would enjoy a shifter story set in the early 1940?s.
Thus, A Scarlet Past began to unfold in my head before I’d finished A Taste of Scarlet .
A Taste of Scarlet is scheduled for release in January from Loose Id with the cooperation and amazing effort of a professional editorial team. (Sorry, you’ll have to wait for a peek at the cover).
A Scarlet Past, is scheduled for release this November direct to Kindle via Amazon’s digital platform. Luckily, I have help. The release will include excepts from Amber Green and an original short story from DA Kentner.

Frankly, I don’t expect to make a lot of money from the story. If it pays for the cover art — thank you Stella Price I’ll be thrilled. Working with Amber and DA will be a blast and I’m bound to learn something–always a pleasure.
How do you feel about the e-publishing revolution? Are you still clinging to dead tree books or are you embracing digital titles?

Dangerous Surrender dropped off my Amazon Kindle titles page.
It’s still available from Amazon in paperback, the digital version is also available from Fictionwise (they offer a Kindle compatible format). And, of course, it’s still available from New Concepts Publishing. So no need to panic.
This made me realize even e-books aren’t for sale forever.

Six random benefits to having dogs:
1) Dogs make wonderful personal trainers, mine have taught me how to pass out treats, take them for runs, and a whole vocabulary of hand signals
2) Dogs keep their owners on schedule, mine are real vocal about walk time, dinner time, and play time
3) Dogs improve their owner’s social skills, just today Katie picked up a couple of real cute guys. They swore they were legal and good to go, but they looked to young to me, so I made her put them back.
4) Dogs keep their owners healthy. what with the running, the walking, the fetching, I’m in much better shape
5) Dogs keep you company, rain or shine they’re ready to go or stay as long as they’re with you
6) Dogs are the best friend a man or a woman could ever have, and who doesn’t want a best friend?

KevaD’s Out of the Closet released September 13 from Noble Romance Publishing.

Blurb
Chaz never once thought the day he came out of the closet no one would be home . . . except the cat. And he was neutered.
Chaz is ready for the great reveal. He’s carefully prepped himself for his private coming out party with new clothes, a handwritten invitation to a romantic dinner, and a solitary long-stemmed rose. Just one little problem—the object of his affection, the beautiful Karl, isn’t home.
While the cat that looks like a rat gnaws on his rose, Chaz doesn’t hear the rough and tumble Mike, the third member of the trio of apartment-mates, walk in the door. Mike’s not the least bit shy . . . about anything, including letting it be known how upset he his Chaz is in love with Karl.
Chaz and the cat contemplate the demise of Mike who is on a quest to sacrifice the cannibalistic cat, until Karl comes home and announces he’s getting married—to a woman.
Could it get any worse for Chaz? Probably.
Live a little and treat yourself to this gem.

Real life grows more virtual all the time at my place. I have a virtual job, make virtual money, do virtual banking, and do virtual shopping.
Shopping in the real world is not my favorite activity. Groceries are one of the few items I still purchase in person. There are virtual grocers available, but they lack the selection available in the brick and mortar store down the street. I’ve wonder about this, since it’s the reverse of most of my virtual shopping experiences. A significant perishable inventory, and the high cost of local delivery are the prime suspects for spoiling what sounds like a great idea.
What do you like or dislike most about virtual shopping?

I’m working through the second round of edits for A Taste of Scarlet.
Not everyone is thrilled with detailed edits, but I’m in a state of geeky bliss. Reading the patient editor’s comments is like having a lengthy coaching session with someone who’s been there, done that, and designed the damn t-shirt.
