Real life

File this under unexpected benefits. A Scarlet Past released direct to Kindle last November. Last time I checked. it still wasn’t available on a single pirate site.

You all understand how publishing works right? Authors get paid every time someone buys a copy of one of their books. If the copy is downloaded from a pirate site, the author doesn’t get paid.

Stealing isn’t a good thing, but small, anonymous thefts seem to be more acceptable. I’m missing something, if I take a dollar from someone else’s purse and no one sees me do it, does that make it okay? How about I take a dollar from a whole bunch of other people’s purses and I still don’t get caught? Bad plan? Yeah, I agree.

How is downloading copyrighted material different?
