Real life

February 17, 2011 | Uncategorized

February is one of my favorite months. The calendar says it’s still winter, but signs of spring are everywhere. The earliest narcissus and crocus are blooming. Other bulbs are plumping up to put on a show.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, after months of damp, dark, and cold, a week or two of mild weather turns the native giddy. It’s not unusual to see convertibles with tops down and fish-belly white legs bared between shorts and flip flops. March may bring hail, snow flurries, or frost, but for a few days in February it’s all about the shades and the heady scent of coconut oil wafting from beaming faces.
