Six-pack Saturday

March 12, 2011 | Uncategorized

I have many, many favorite authors, the following six are in no particular order and have little in common except they craft stories that delight me for different reasons:

1) PG Wodehouse, because he always makes me laugh. It’s impossible to pick a favorite from his works. Of course I adore Jeeves and Blandings Castle, but there are so many more to love.

2) Georgette Heyer, she makes me smile and sniffle and delights me with her stories no matter how many times I’ve read them.

3) Emma Holly simply never disappoints, in fact she’s still growing, which is a little intimidating for me as a writer, but absolutely wonderful as a reader.

4) Suzanne Brockmann is another author who started out fantastic and improved. Her stories have no dull bits and no rough patches. I read and I fall in love over and over again.

5) Charles Dickens, I open one of his books and slip into a different time and place effortlessly. For me, Dickens is sheer magic storytelling.

6) Truman Capote one of my rare non-prolific favorites, he died too young, and wrote too few stories. Yet each one of them was memorable and worth reading more than once.

All have them have titles I love. More importantly, they’ve never failed to entertain me.

Share the love and tell me about your favorite authors.
