WIP Wednesday

August 1, 2012 | WIP Wednesday

Back when I first started writing for publication, I wondered what those authors who only wrote one book a year did with the rest of their time. Now that I’ve been at it awhile, I wonder what possesses me to write more than one book a year.

There are authors who juggle half a dozen different story lines at the same time. Not me. Strictly one at a time and from point A all the way to the end. Setting aside a project to work on something else or even writing out of order means setting the story back. Sometimes this is unavoidable, real life is notoriously inconsiderate about my production schedule. :ermm:

Are you a multi-tasker or more linear?

I’m with you, Evanne. I’m more linear, never drafting more than one work at a time from start to finish. My biggest challenge is not getting too distracted when real life, edits, promotion, etc. intrude on my creative time. Always have to get back on track and pick up the story again.

You are my writing sister, Allie! Interruptions set me back too.
