Deep in the stacks

September 3, 2013 | Teaser Tuesday

A Scarlet Past resides on my hard drive, but the material behind the story is crammed in a three ring binder. A couple of weeks ago when I submitted the tale to Loose Id, I leafed through my research notes.

Here are a few snippets from the files: Central Park History along with The Park and the People: A History of Central Park began to bring the location alive in my head.

I found this wonderful article complete with vintage photographs at Curbed. The snapshot above shows a view of The Sherry Netherlands Hotel, The Savoy Plaza Hotel and the Plaza Hotel from Central Park. I was thrilled to find it since a great deal of the story action takes place in Central Park and the Plaza Hotel.

Climate Stations allows me to check historical weather conditions in Central Park.

The Fedora Lounge is crammed with vintage style from the forties.

Rita Hayworth is how I picture Vivian

Clark Gable is close to Fergus, although ideally he’d be wearing a fedora…

I love reading historical romances, because they let visit a different era. Writing them works every bit as well.

Do you have a favorite time period?
