3) the bounty available at my local supermarket

5) cell phones
6) modern transportation
All of these are relatively recent innovations that have revolutionized daily living. What’s your favorite modern convenience?

I have many, many favorite authors, the following six are in no particular order and have little in common except they craft stories that delight me for different reasons:
1) PG Wodehouse, because he always makes me laugh. It’s impossible to pick a favorite from his works. Of course I adore Jeeves and Blandings Castle, but there are so many more to love.
2) Georgette Heyer, she makes me smile and sniffle and delights me with her stories no matter how many times I’ve read them.
3) Emma Holly simply never disappoints, in fact she’s still growing, which is a little intimidating for me as a writer, but absolutely wonderful as a reader.
4) Suzanne Brockmann is another author who started out fantastic and improved. Her stories have no dull bits and no rough patches. I read and I fall in love over and over again.
5) Charles Dickens, I open one of his books and slip into a different time and place effortlessly. For me, Dickens is sheer magic storytelling.
6) Truman Capote one of my rare non-prolific favorites, he died too young, and wrote too few stories. Yet each one of them was memorable and worth reading more than once.
All have them have titles I love. More importantly, they’ve never failed to entertain me.
Share the love and tell me about your favorite authors.

Snippets from six of my favorite reviews:
Mystery, intrigue, and extortion set the scene in this riveting story. There’s plenty of sexual tension between the main couple, and when they make love, they burn up the pages (Romantic Times)
There is a passion that burns brightly between Eduardo and Desiree. Ms Lorraine makes you ache with them. (A Romance Review)
To say that this book is sexually inspiring is an understatement. The heat rolls off the pages and the sexual play between Eduardo and DJ is edgy while maintaining an air of fun. (Bookwenches)
Wickedly handsome demons, and one not-so-fragile-as-she-seems woman, light up the moon in this action packed and seriously sexy read with just enough scorching sex to keep you sizzling. (Coffee Time Romance)
I didn’t put the book down at any point from start to finish. All pirate fans need to read this one. The “Pirate and Captive” scenes will stave your naughty cravings, the BDSM role-play is combustive, and Ryder is a hero you won’t soon forget. (Whipped Cream Reviews)
A fast paced read that takes you on journey of three lost souls who find each other amidst a Intergalactic war. The author does an excellent job of incorporating some great ménage sex, alien style, while executing a daring escape and fighting a space battle. These scenes are hot and definitely out of this world. (Bitten By Books)
Readers are the best

The websites I visit regularly change over time. Here’s my current top six:
1) email–the essential inbox for the virtual office
2) local newspaper online–weather, sports, traffic, world events all in one handy stop
3) evannelorraine.com–adding posts, editing posts, checking posts posted–a must stop for the OCD author
4) Loose Ends to read what some of my favorite Loose Id authors’ posts.
5) Evanne Lorraine’s Kindle store
All those pretty covers, sales rankings, I shouldn’t but I can’t resist regular visits
6) my bank account–I don’t understand people who don’t check on their virtual money
Tell me about your favorite websites…

For everyone planning on having another birthday this year; here’s six cool things about getting older:
1) With a failing memory there ‘s so much less cause for worry.
2) Impatience becomes a non-issue, because time passes so fast there’s little chance to grow irritated with waiting for anything.
3) Gray hair draws attention away from wrinkles and sagging parts.
4) Lines add character and interest to an otherwise boring face.
5) You can stop doing anything you don’t enjoy on the grounds you’re too old for (insert chore or obligation of your choice).
6) Growing older beats the alternative
What do you like best about aging?

Here are my six stages of writing erotic romance:
1) OMG what a great story! This is so much fun!
2) Why aren’t these blasted character cooperating with my plan?
3) You heard that? Sorry. Okay, I’m revising (grumble, grumble)
4) Yes, you all were right that makes it a much better story
5) OMG, no! Seriously I can’t change that–it’s impossible
6) Yes, of course you all were right again. The story is much better. But couldn’t you have told me just a little earlier? No? Okay, I’m back to pounding the keyboard.

Last Saturday I listed what’s great about writing erotic romance. Just in case you missed it you can find the list here
This week’s list is what’s not so great about writing erotic romance:
1) Working for myself (I’m not always reasonable)
2) No job security
3) No co-workers, just me, my imaginary friends, and the diva dog
4) No paid benefit package
5) Long production period–it takes me months to get through a first draft
6) Waiting to hear on a submission–yes once published the wait times decrease, but they’re still not exactly instant communication
Despite romance writing’s allure as a dream job, there are a few drawbacks, especially for someone who needs a regular paycheck. Of course, there are those who make a handsome living from writing. But it’s a pretty select club.

Here’s the what’s great about writing erotic romance list:
1) Getting paid to think about hot guys
2) Reading romance is a professional obligation
3) No commute
4) Low overhead
5) No dress code
6) Great working conditions
No wonder everyone wants to be a writer. It’s darn near a perfect job. There are a couple of negatives. Back with that list next Saturday….

Six books I’ve read more than once and might want to read again.
Shogun by James Clavell
Set in medieval Japan the story unfolds with plenty of political intrigue, brilliant characters, and a tragic love story. I can’t comment on the craft because I invariably get caught up in the story to the extent that the details of writing are irrelevant.
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
This prequel to LOTR is still my favorite. Bilbo Baggins was the first hobbit I was introduced to and his charms have never palled. Ostensibly, a children’s story, I discovered it as an adult and found it riveting.
Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Another beloved piece of children’s literature, the Wind in the Willows has an unforgettable animal cast. Still in print, one hundred years past its debut, the story is a beloved classic, which entirely merits its place in the hearts of readers.
Congo by Michael Crichton
A fast paced adventure with IMHO the best cast Mr. Crichton ever put together. He does occasionally lapse into lecture mode, but the gorilla treatment alone makes it worth rereading.
Mackenzie’s Mountain by Linda Howard
Wolf Mackenzie is to-die-for, the first category romance hero I fell in love with he’s paired perfectly with Mary Elizabeth Potter, a spinsterish school teacher with true grit. Ms. Howard has written lots of good stories this one remains my favorite.
Devil’s Bride by Stephanie Laurens
The inaugural Cynster novel is still the best. The story embodies what I like about regency romances. Dashing, aristocratic, and irresistible alpha hero matched with elegant, sophisticated woman of strong character, a credible suspense sub-plot, the glittering ballrooms of the ton, and a sensual love story.
So how about you, gotta a six-pack you want to share?
