Liam caught Kyle’s attention and beckoned him over. He got a chin dip in acknowledgement as his brother made his way through the guests. Since finally graduating, he’d stepped up and shouldered at least half of the heavy lifting necessary to keep Sterling Enterprises rolling along like a well-oiled tank. His willing assumption of responsibility freed him up to be a husband and father in more than just name.

He didn’t begrudge a minute spent taking care of his brothers, but fatherhood the second time around was so much better. For one thing he wasn’t a teenager taking on single parenthood, plus Tiana by his side made all the difference, to say nothing of the immense pleasure involved in impregnating his wife.

Who would’ve guessed my second tour of parenting would be more fun than my first?

“What do you need?” Kyle drilled a finger into his ribs.

“You to take over greeting for a few.”

“Not a problem, where’s your better half?”

“Back from dropping the kids at Uncle Cam’s.” Unless something went wrong. Liam shook off a chill. He was never truly at ease when Tiana was out of sight. However, even a compliant woman balked at wearing a leash 24/7.

“She should be down soon.” Or maybe soonish if I have my way and when it comes to Tiana I always do.

“Did you want her for something in particular?” Liam narrowed his gaze, warning his brother to have a care answering.

“Yeah, I wanted an introduction to the stunning red head.” He tilted his chin toward Kate Stewart, DVM.

“Why, don’t you remember her?”

Kyle studied her profile for a moment. “There is something familiar about her, but I can’t place her and that’s weird. I never forget a beautiful woman.”

“Kate’s kind of a late bloomer.” Liam squinted at the vet’s blurred outline.

“Chunky, freckled Kate Stewart?” he asked in quiet shock.

“The same, all grown up now.” He pulled his glasses out of an inside pocket, slid them on, and brought the rest of the party into focus. Kate wasn’t in Tiana’s class, but then no one was. She did have big hazel eyes, lots of dark red hair, long legs, a great ass, and the breasts to match.

“Who’s she talking to?” Kyle kept his voice low.

“Tom Knight, the other vet working for Doc Hawthorn. He’s been trying to stake a claim for a while now. Not sure he’s met with any success.”

“Who’s the kid with her, her son?” Kyle helped himself to a flute of champagne from a passing tray.

“Teddy, half-brother. You’d know this stuff if you ever spent time with your own hayburners,” he prodded.

“I’ve been busy picking up your slack, besides Bran’s on top of everything.”

“Keep telling yourself that, brat.”

“Vice-president-in-charge-of-your-sorry-ass brat to you, bro.” Kyle swallowed bubbly.

“VP is the best you can hope for.” He crossed to the stairs.

“Hey, when are you coming back?”

“Later.” Liam headed up.

Snippet from COLIN, Demon Hunters I

December 22, 2014 | Real life,Uncategorized

Colin 500 x 750

Today is the last day to pick up a free copy of COLIN, here’s another peek to entice you!

Colin tied the ribbon Diane had given him around Holly’s slender throat. The thin line of color marked her as taken—his. He loved how her lips were wet and swollen from his kiss. He loved the way she responded to him with total, helpless, surprised, submission. He loved how her abundant curves felt against his raw needs. And he hated not being able to read her. Touching hadn’t made even a crack in her impenetrable thought shield. He also hated being wrong.

In addition to not being able to read a single idea in her beautiful head, he had new problems. Her mouth was an oasis of pleasure in his barren life. Her silken tongue carried a seductive flavor of hot cocoa with a touch of cool mint. He should never have tasted her sweetness. Now it would be twice as hard to maintain his distance. But he had to; there was too much at stake, including her life.

May your holidays be filled with dangerously sexy delights!

Reality interferes with the important stuff, like dreaming up new stories and writing down the ones in my head. So does blogging. In my real life there’s no time transporter. The stories come first with me, no great surprise to regular visitors.

At least once a week I’ll still post news and/or snippets. From time to time I’ll share a book I enjoyed reading. But (you knew that was coming) I’m not going to be running daily posts.

Check back when the mood hits, maybe there’ll be something new…

KevaD, my friend and critique partner has a release from Decadent, Kantu’s Heart!

When Sandra Harn drove her minivan in to Freewill, Wyoming, she had no idea her life would depend on the skills of a cave-dwelling warrior who died fifty thousand years ago. After all, she just came for the rummage sale.

Before the ice age, the warrior Kantu lost his tribe, his mate Sanda, and his life to a vicious band of cannibals led by the powerful Paool. What Kantu doesn’t know is his destiny lies beyond the death that took him and stole Sanda. When he awakens, he is plagued by a world beyond his comprehension, a civilization of towns with people who want to capture him and study his very existence. But at a festival honoring Native American traditions, Kantu sees Sanda… in the arms of Paool, and all of Kantu’s misery and strength meld into one goal – to win back his heart and kill Paool.

Sandra Harn was found abandoned as an infant and raised by her guardian “Uncle” Max. Submitting to an urge she can’t explain, she drives to Freewill, WY, for the annual rummage sale and, hopefully, to find a connection between herself and an ancient fang Max had given her. In Freewill, a second fang opens Sandra’s mind to visions of a past before the town existed, when few men walked the earth. As she questions her sanity, she finds a friend in Paul Carson, a successful real estate agent with questionable dealings.

The more Sandra learns of Paul, the more she wants to uncover his shroud of mystery. Still, Paul is everything she ever dreamed of in a man – handsome, wealthy, and seemingly devoted to her. Until she spots an exotic stranger with flowing raven hair, three claw scars across his chest, and an iron desire to kill Paul. Logic tells her to run, but her body screams surrender.

On Thursdays I don’t get a lot of writing done. I run around attending to the real world stuff, grocery shopping, gas, and errands are all lumped into Thursday. Add in the daily chore list, plus a little socializing, and it makes for a full day.

When Friday rolls around, I’m eager to get back to the story. The break works for me like a day apart from a new lover.

What are you eagerly anticipating?

You know how some people are all about their cell phones, keeping them charged, using them constantly to text, call, and surf? I’m pretty much the same way about my Kindle.

Paper and ink versus ereader is such an apples and oranges kind of thing. It’s like comparing horses and cars. There will always be horses (I hope) and people who love them, but as transportation for the average city/suburb dweller they aren’t efficient.

While researching it dawned on me that there are at least one or two generations of readers who aren’t interested in reading digital ink releases. Places like Goodreads (a social media site for readers) only allow hard copy book giveaways. Dead-tree books will be around for a long time. Simple economics tells me they’re going to premium priced as their market shrinks. And the market is changing rapidly.

The reasons I buy digital titles are similar to why I drive a car instead of riding a horse. I read a lot, so even with an active library account, disposing of paper and ink books was an on going problem. The idea of moving cartons and cartons of books struck terror into my heart. Paper and ink editions don’t have adjustable font sizes, search features, built in book marks, or dictionaries. They’re frequently large and awkward to pack, the paperback edition fall apart after half a dozen gentle readings. and they’re a pain to dust.

Thanks to the Kindle, I’ve cut way back to five full size bookcases and two half size ones of the unwieldy volumes I need. I foresee further reductions ahead.

Do you see paper books going the way of vinyl records and beta max video tapes? Or will there always be a place for bound books?

Random research, dragons are usually portrayed as forces of evil, but the guy in the picture , zmaj is a protector.

This was one of the things I loved about Dragon Bound. Thea Harrison chose a dragon hero to begin her Elder Race series.

Do you have a favorite dragon?
