Last week’s post had an image of Duec’s essence. The match looks a little unequal to me too. So far Belinda quite firmly mentioned the naked part and the riding crop are not even remotely her. She prefers black leather clothes and Egyptian floggers. I’m waiting for a few more details and trying not panic over how fast my deadline is approaching.
I loved the paranormal universe Ms. Lorraine depicted in A Very Demon Christmas and can’t wait to return to it in the future. Here’s hoping Ms. Lorraine will give us Belinda’s story, who was a lively character, as well as the brains of the operation, and one tough looking demon known as Duec.
Friday the thirteenth seems like the ideal time to talk about the perfect way to soothe any jitters from superstition or the irritation of everyday stress and strain — rereading.
Hey, it works for me. When I want the comfort of a sure thing, I turn to a favorite book. To insure a satisfactory selection of these vital comfort reads, I add digital versions of keeper titles to my virtual shelf regularly.
Watching a favorite movie works too. Some have become seasonal traditions, hauled out, dusted off, and popped in annually. The Christmas must-see movie list has become so long I need to start right after Thanksgiving.
What? Y’all don’t keep a soapbox handy for when you feel like spoutin’ off a little?
I’ve read a couple of pretty vehement posts about readers owing writers a good review, especially for free books.
Seriously? Nah, that’s not real world thinking.
Stuff I get for free has intrinsically less value than stuff I pay for. Check out the free read section on this site. I give away samples of my writing all the time, as do my publishers. We’re both hoping to entice gentle readers to buy my books. The idea that said readers owe me anything in exchange for the gift never entered my mind.
What I owe readers occupies a major chunk of my thinking time. I owe them a plot that makes sense, even when it surprises. I owe them characters with substance and purpose. I owe them hours of entertainment in exchange for their hard-earned money. I owe them the best damn story I can write.
Reviews aren’t something readers owe me. They are gifts from readers who are pleased or upset with my efforts.
Long before the opening sentence the adventure begins in my head with the characters. I have to understand who they are before I can begin to tell their story. I usually start with the heroine, since they’re more reasonable and chattier.
Not this time.
Duec is loud and demanding and not interested in my preferences. Again, not a big surprise. Picture me sort of sucked into his tailwind, frantically scribbling notes…
Sizzling Hot Book Reviews approved of Demon Hunters II: A Very Demon Valentine’s! Please click here to read the entire review. This is my favorite part:
Even though A Very Demon Valentines Day is the second in the Demon Hunters series it can stand alone. I had no trouble following the plot or the characters. I enjoyed watching Tey fall hard for Miranda. It was interesting to see all the ways he tried to convince himself that isn’t what he wanted when they were destined to be together. They were each others’ true match. I think Miranda was a strong demon to go up against Tey since she faced rejection from him at every turn. I like that she was able to breech his walls. She was able to get beyond what he showed the rest of the world…
